Equity Assistant Trader & Operations Administrator

A global financial firm seeks an Equity Assistant Trader & Operations Administrator to support its Equity team in New York City. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with portfolio managers, traders, operations, and compliance teams in a fast-paced institutional investment environment. The role combines equity trading support, portfolio operations, performance analysis, and reporting responsibilities.

Position Overview

The Equity Assistant Trader & Operations Administrator will assist with trade execution, portfolio monitoring, fund performance measurement, reporting, and operational coordination for the Equity team. The individual will collaborate with front, middle, and back-office teams to ensure accurate and timely trading activity, reporting, and operational processes. The role also supports automation initiatives and database management projects.

Responsibilities

  • Support equity trade execution and settlement processes in coordination with operations, broker/dealers, and back-office teams
  • Monitor portfolio cash positions, fund allocations, and performance measurement data
  • Assist with portfolio attribution analysis and maintain investment-related databases
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly operational and investment reports
  • Coordinate with compliance and operations teams to ensure adherence to internal policies and regulatory requirements
  • Assist with automation and process improvement initiatives in collaboration with IT and operations teams
  • Maintain accurate trading records and resolve operational discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Provide administrative and analytical support to equity research analysts and trading professionals

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field
  • 3–4+ years of financial services experience, including exposure to trading, investment operations, or portfolio administration
  • Understanding of equity markets, trading workflows, and portfolio operations
  • Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills required
  • Bloomberg proficiency required; familiarity with AIM, VBA, SQL, BQuant, or related tools is a plus
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Team-oriented mindset with flexibility to support multiple functions as needed
