BL Japanese Associate/Sr. Associate, Real Estate Asset Management

An international real estate investment company seeks a skilled Senior Associate with Japanese language skill to join their Asset Management team in NYC.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Asset Management & Strategy Implementation:
    • Manage the overall asset management of properties, including transactions and strategies.
    • Provide support in financial modeling, budgeting, and project assessment.
    • Manage cash flow, profitability, and value creation opportunities for assets.
  2. Collaboration & Communication:
    • Work closely with acquisitions, corporate accounting, and partners.
    • Collaborate with joint venture operators, property managers, and contractors.
    • Engage with senior staff for execution of exit strategies and disposals.
  3. Financial Analysis & Reporting:
    • Conduct financial feasibility studies throughout project life cycles.
    • Prepare monthly asset management reports, variance analysis, and ad hoc reports.
    • Conduct refinancing, hold/sell analysis, and formulate strategies.
  4. Operational Excellence:
    • Address operational issues impacting financial performance.
    • Oversee local third-party property managers and leasing agents.
    • Handle administrative duties and organize project information.
  5. Strategic Planning & Execution:
    • Assist in developing and executing management strategies.
    • Update annual business plans and performance reports.
    • Negotiate with lenders for refinancing strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Accounting, Math, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in asset management, real estate finance, or property management.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills; proficiency in MS Excel.
  • Experience in an institutional setting and interfacing with JV partners, lenders, and property managers is preferred.
  • Native level Japanese skills in speaking/reading/writing
  • Willingness to travel up to 20%.
