Established IT Firm is seeking a bilingual Japanese IT Project Manager to support and lead a variety of IT projects for Japanese corporate clients in the United States. This role combines project management, client support, vendor coordination, and operational improvement. Typical projects may include ERP implementations, Microsoft Dynamics 365 projects, infrastructure upgrades, and application support initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have at least three years of IT project management experience, strong communication skills in Japanese and English, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders, including clients, vendors, and internal technical teams. Candidates with experience working in Japan and familiarity with ERP systems are highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management
- Manage end-to-end delivery of IT projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Prepare and maintain project plans, schedules, status reports, and other project documentation.
- Coordinate internal technical teams and third-party vendors.
- Monitor project risks, issues, and dependencies, and escalate when necessary.
- Track budgets, timelines, and resource utilization.
Client Support & Operations
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients regarding technical inquiries and project updates.
- Handle support tickets and incidents, including tracking status and coordinating resolutions.
- Execute predefined operational tasks and user support activities.
- Maintain accurate documentation in systems such as Microsoft SharePoint and project management tools.
- Work onsite at client locations on a regular or as-needed basis.
Analysis & Reporting
- Record daily work logs and update project systems.
- Analyze actual versus forecasted effort, budgets, and timelines.
- Prepare regular progress reports for management and stakeholders.
- Identify operational inefficiencies and recommend improvement initiatives.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Provide leadership and guidance to team members.
- Help team members resolve issues and develop their skills.
- Coordinate closely with sales and finance teams to ensure effective project execution while minimizing business risks.
- Support teammates as needed and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
Process Improvement & Compliance
- Continuously identify opportunities to streamline project delivery and support processes.
- Implement best practices to improve efficiency and service quality.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, operational procedures, and applicable regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Native-level Japanese and business-level English.
- Minimum 3 years of IT project management experience.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills with close attention to detail.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and problem-solving ability.
- Comfortable working in both client-facing and hands-on support roles.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional work experience in Japan.
- Experience with ERP systems, particularly Microsoft Dynamics.
- Familiarity with SharePoint and project management tools.
