An international chemical manufacturer is seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Manager to lead and continuously improve its Quality Management System across products and contract manufacturing partners. This role is responsible for hands-on quality leadership, supplier quality oversight, audits, corrective actions, and quality training in a manufacturing-driven environment.
This position is intended for a quality professional with broad ownership of quality systems and quality operations, rather than a narrow compliance or testing-only focus.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and continuously improve the Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with ISO 9001
- Establish and maintain quality standards, procedures, and documentation across products and manufacturing partners
- Plan, conduct, and support internal audits, supplier audits, and customer/external audits
- Work closely with toll manufacturers to manage audit readiness, findings, and corrective actions
- Analyze quality data, identify trends, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions
- Manage non-conformance issues, customer complaints, and quality investigations from identification through resolution
- Develop, document, and deliver quality training programs for internal teams and external partners
- Lead and supervise QA staff, including coaching, performance management, and work prioritization
- Prepare quality reports and present findings, risks, and improvement initiatives to senior management
- Support mid-term planning and budgeting related to quality initiatives
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of management experience in the chemical, automotive, or food packaging industry
- ISO 9001 experience is required
- Demonstrated supervisory and people-management experience
- Strong background in manufacturing quality systems, quality operations, and cross-functional quality leadership
- Proven ability to develop, maintain, and control structured quality documentation and records
- Experience designing and delivering quality training programs
- Ability to collaborate effectively across functions and with external manufacturing partners
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Quality Management, or a related technical field
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with IATF 16949 and/or Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
- Experience working with contract or toll manufacturers
- Comfortable working in a SOHO environment with regular reporting and alignment cadence
Travel & Work Structure
- Travel: Up to 15% annually
- Travel to toll manufacturers typically occurs approximately quarterly, depending on customer audits and quality-related matters
- SOHO Employees: Monthly reporting meetings at the New York Office (NYO)
