A global chemical manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Manager of Business Development to drive growth in its petrochemical-based packaging materials business across North and South America. The company supplies advanced polymer materials to converters and industrial customers and supports the market through strong technical expertise, manufacturing knowledge, and long-term commercial partnerships.
This role is specifically suited for professionals with experience in polymer or resin-based materials, who can engage credibly with customers on material selection, multilayer structures, and processing behavior. The successful candidate will have direct exposure to petrochemical materials used in industrial and flexible packaging applications, and the ability to translate technical knowledge into commercial growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop new business opportunities by identifying material-driven applications, new markets, and unmet customer needs in industrial and flexible packaging
- Expand existing key accounts by providing ongoing technical and commercial support related to polymer materials, ensuring long-term partnerships and stable supply
- Engage with customers on topics including polymer performance, multilayer co-extrusion structures, and application suitability, working closely with engineering, processing, and procurement teams
- Support the introduction and expansion of materials such as nylon-based resins, EVOH-containing structures, adhesive tie resins, and other functional polymers used in packaging applications
- Monitor market trends, competitive materials, and emerging technologies, translating insights into actionable business development strategies
- Contribute to mid-term planning, budgeting, and forecasting activities in coordination with regional and global stakeholders
- Support product and business compliance requirements in line with applicable regulations and internal controls
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; a background in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, polymers, or related disciplines is strongly preferred
- Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in the petrochemical, polymer, or specialty materials industry, ideally with direct responsibility for commercial or business development activities
- Demonstrated experience with one or more of the following materials or technologies: EVOH, nylon (PA), adhesive tie resins, multilayer co-extrusion structures
- Experience in business development, technical sales, or key account management where material knowledge and technical credibility are essential
- Ability to communicate effectively with converters, processors, engineers, and procurement professionals
- Willingness to travel across North and South America as required
