A global chemical manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Manager of Business Development to lead growth initiatives in its packaging-related materials business across North and South America. Although manufacturing operations are outside the U.S., the company maintains strong regional commercial activity and supports customers through technical expertise, manufacturing knowledge, and long-term partnerships.
This role is suited for professionals from the chemical or plastics industry who have a strong understanding of polymers and how they are applied in industrial packaging and processing environments. The position requires credibility in discussions with engineers, converters, manufacturing teams, and procurement leaders, particularly regarding materials selection, processing behavior, and application performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop new business opportunities through identification of industrial packaging applications, new markets, and technically driven customer needs
- Maintain and expand existing key accounts by providing consistent technical, commercial, and service support to ensure stable supply and trusted partnerships
- Engage with customers at a technical level, including discussions related to polymer materials performance, extrusion processing, and application suitability
- Monitor market dynamics, competitive activity, emerging technologies, and customer requirements, translating insights into business strategies
- Contribute to mid-term planning, budgeting, and monthly forecasting, ensuring alignment with business plans and operational objectives
- Support corporate and product compliance processes, including awareness of relevant regulations and business controls
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; a background connected to polymers, chemicals, materials, engineering, or industrial technology is strongly preferred
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the chemical or plastics industry, ideally in B2B industrial environments
- Practical exposure to polymer applications and plastic conversion technologies, particularly extrusion-related processes such as film, bottles, pipe, coating, or similar
- Experience in business development, technical sales, account management, or market growth roles where technical credibility is essential
- Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to engage both commercially and technically
- Ability to travel across North and South America as business requires
