Sr. Construction Project Manager

International Energy Company is seeking a Senior Construction Project Manager. Individual will be responsible for onsite management and overseeing construction compliance of utility scale renewable energy generation projects to ensure the fulfillment of project requirements in terms of schedule, cost, and quality as well as proactively tracking and communicating key project risks to stakeholders. He/she will act as the primary on-site point of contact for the Project Company and will work in parallel to the Owners office base technical and management teams.

Responsibilities

  • Manages multiple assigned projects in the areas of solar, and battery energy storage
  • Support the completion of preliminary engineering specifications of construction and supply contracts for assigned projects
  • Contribute to the development of detailed project management and construction strategy including implementation plans, budgets, and schedules
  • Participate in the review and approval of vendors and suppliers
  • Coordinate with project control staff regarding the scheduling and budgeting of the project
  • Support finance teams with due diligence and project economic models
  • Ensure that project variance analysis reporting to senior management is provided on a regular and timely basis for key risks, project costs, and schedules
  • Manage the integration of development and execution functions for assigned projects
  • Ensure and coordinate all internal and external relations necessary to ensure the development and delivery of the project
  • Supervise and maintain current knowledge of the overall project by assisting with the resolution of differences and reviewing plans and procedures to institute changes as needed
  • Communicate construction progress and schedule with Owners group, investors, and third parties as necessary.
  • Maintain detailed knowledge and familiarity with contracts and documents in order to ensure that work is executed in accordance with the expectations that have been defined and approved and that the work fulfills contractual requirements
  • Develop effective relationships with contractors, suppliers, and third-party management teams
  • Develop effective and supportive relationships with colleagues
  • Lead, manage, and supervise assigned staff
  • Facilitate handover of construction project to the operations management group
  • Additional duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field; Master’s degree preferred
  • 10+ years in energy project development, an environmental or engineering field, or a directly related field
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software, including MS Project
  • Knowledge of construction management and constructing methods for large projects, contract management, procurement, and supply chain management, environmental and building permitting, and transportation logistics
  • Minimum of 3 years of on-site construction management experience in the renewables field, including direct experience managing projects in excess of 10MW
  • Basic knowledge of applicable industry standards and codes, including Uniform Building Code (UBC), International Building Code (IBC), American Concrete Institute (ACI), American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC), Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute (CRSI), National Fire Protection Association, (NFPA), and American National Standards Institute (ANSI)
  • Basic knowledge of land surveying methods and practices, aerial photography and mapping (including UTM and NAD coordinate systems), and geospatial references
  • Ability to interpret documents produced in AutoCAD, GIS, and other discipline-relevant software
  • Ability to quickly understand the basics of a variety of subjects relating to wind and solar energy, including resource studies, environmental and cultural studies, transmission issues, public relations, public policy, sales, and civil and electrical engineering
  • Strong interpersonal skills and high attention to details
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Understanding of basic financial principles (IRR, NPV, Depreciation, etc.)
  • Ability to travel extensively domestically and internationally, by plane and by car and with short notice
  • Willingness to relocate to new Project site location at completion of Project construction works
