Sales Assistant Manager- International chemical company
An international chemical company is seeking a Sales Assistant Manager for their advanced materials department dealing with carbon fiber composite materials. This position is responsible for conducting sales for the assigned sales area, suggesting strategies to Management, developing business, and implementing sales functions.
Responsibilities
(1) Manages and Expands Customer Accounts:
– contacting customers regularly via telephone, e-mail, letters and in person to ascertain their needs and keep business and information flowing smoothly
– following up on past-due accounts to ensure that all collections are completed
– providing price quotes, proposals, and credit terms to current and prospective customers
– identifying customer needs or problems in a timely manner, and reporting all problems to the necessary parties.
(2) Coordinates Sales Operations:
– determining sales plans, P/L budget drafts and pricing strategies
– projecting expected sales volume and profit for existing and new products related to specified accounts
– formulating and implementing targeted sales goals
– negotiating and closing all pricing proposals
– preparing sales reports for Management on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis
(3) Increases Sales/Profits (including new business development)
– operating within budgetary guidelines
– managing expenses
– analyzing sales trends, operating efficiency, and best practices in order to maximize profit
– researching and identifying potential customers in specified industries
– developing proactive sales methods including end-user customer presentations, finding key customer/prospect contacts and build up a good relationship to penetrate into the opportunity, phone sales, and new business opportunities at trade shows and industry events
(4) Support Marketing Functions:
– conducting research activities in order to grasp current market needs
– assisting the execution and implementation of product marketing strategies
– following up on product sales leads and inquiries received from magazine advertising, web sites, trade
shows, and distributors
– assisting the establishment, enhancement, and management of relations with marketing and advertising representatives.
(5) Maintains Information:
– processing sales data and generating sales reports; by receiving, processing, and confirming orders
– creating purchase orders, letters of credit, and sales contracts
– documenting new project inquiries from new and current clients
– making quotations and sending them to the customers
– contacting customers to troubleshoot problems as they occur; and by performing any other sales support functions as necessary.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from four-year college or university
- 3-5 years of business-to-business sales experience
- Open to travel for business and may work beyond normal (before the pandemic, 1-2 times/month, mainly northeast and Canada, some west coast and few Europe and Japan)
- Strong communication skills (verbal/written)
- Must be tactful, mature, flexible, and able to successfully respond to multiple work pressures. High communication skill is required.
- Ability to use a computer and such applications like Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and be able to design custom reports as necessary.
