Bilingual Japanese Head of Client Relations

An international Financial Institution is seeking a Head of Client Relations with Japanese skills responsible for developing and maintaining relationships in its asset management business. The individual will be also originating investment products including equity, fixed income, and other alternatives. Responsible for providing information about the financial market and investment products for clients to support their investment decision. Responsible for creating solutions for meeting clients’ needs/requirements in conjunction with specialized staff and/or external professionals.

  • Develops and maintains business relationships with clients including both asset owners and asset managers. Identifies business opportunities with them.
  • Pursues and generates new clients and new transactions from existing clients.
  • Communicates with asset managers, wealth managers, banks, brokers, consultants, and other institutions to source potential new business.
  • Provides information about the financial market and investment products for clients to support their investment decision.
  • Creates products/solutions to meet clients’ needs/requirements in conjunction with specialized staff and/or external professionals.
  • Liaises with Head Office to align with its strategies.
  • Manages entire Client Relations function, supervising VP/AVP level subordinates.
  • Supports Senior Management, acting on their behalf if they are absent in some circumstances.
  • Required to be familiar with Firm’s Compliance Policies & Procedures and to be attending all seminars and ongoing compliance-related training program.
  • Monitors the firm’s business activities and operations for potentially suspicious activities. Reports promptly to Senior Management all potentially suspicious activities of which the employee becomes aware.
  • General Risk Management Responsibilities: Has good knowledge of applicable risk management practices required to create a culture of risk management compliance for his or her team. Identifies, assesses, and monitors applicable risks based on the firm’s risk management policies and procedures. Reviews work of subordinates for risk management purposes, if applicable.
  • Exhibits best practice risk management skills through effective internal risk controls, risk monitoring, risk assessment, and improvement of risk management processes.
  • The specific type of risks applicable to the job function such as credit risk, market risk, liquidity risk, operational risk, legal/compliance risk, reputational shall be discussed with the manager

 

Qualifications

  • MBA degree or equivalent with 15+ years of experience in a financial institution or a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 18+ years of related experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of the financial industry, investment products, and services. Expert knowledge of one or more products or functions.
  • Strong network in the financial industry, having a variety of connections such as asset owners, investment bankers, prime brokers, consultants, and other high-end professionals.
  • Strong communications both verbally and written in English and Japanese
  • Understands the importance of compliance issues in the execution of daily activities. Ensures compliance in daily work and may be responsible for training subordinates.
  • PC Skills: spreadsheets and work-processing. Excellent oral and written communication in English.
