Senior Asset Manager – Renewable Energy Investment

An International Energy Investment Firm is seeking a Senior Asset Manager who will support the commercial, financial, and legal oversight for constructing and operating solar farms in the assigned region and ensure all commercial, financial, legal and governmental obligations are met.  The successful individual will plan budgets and oversee both plant and third party contractor performance together with an asset management service provider.  Additional responsibilities will include supporting the management of the commercial relationship with OEMs, O&M Contractors, Asset Management, Energy Managers, service providers, and stakeholders such as the Local County, landowners, and utility.  Additionally, the Senior Asset Manager will be responsible for ensuring that the operations strategy and management framework developed by the owner and asset management service provides is implemented consistently across projects in the assigned region.

Responsibilities: 

  • Interface with EPC, O&M, performance management team, OEM’s, energy manager, asset manager and service providers on routine operational issues and on initiatives in an effort to increase operational and financial performance and reduce risk exposure
  • Coordinate resolution of significant legal issues with internal and outside counsel that stem from the operation of the project (e.g., equipment warranties, insurance, O&M disputes and performance metrics, landowner agreements, PPAs, interconnection agreements, lender, tax equity, change orders, and others)
  •  Ensure commercial, financial, legal and governmental obligations are met by tracking key milestones within the major agreements (e.g., module supply, O&M, energy management, hedge contract, tax equity, landowner, and interconnection)
  • Create good relationships with stakeholders, and coordinate issue resolution and stakeholder management when milestones are delinquent, or a trigger event has occurred
  • Support the management of operational solar farms profit & loss activities, financial statements, and tax issues
  • Assist with the development of project-level annual budgets and longer-term business plans with project owners and lenders
  • Serve as a point of contact regarding financial and operational performance as compared to budget and targets
  • Update operational, financial estimates on a quarterly basis in collaboration with the finance team
  • Update and monitor the cash flow model to trace IRR
  • Facilitate service agreements and contracts by working with a legal team including external law firms
  • Contribute to developing and refining operational strategies
  • Lead and perform analyses of performance and scenarios to develop decision-supporting tools for senior management
  • Perform ad hoc analyses on the historical and forward-looking performance of the asset
  • Support the development and implementation of new project developments, origination, and negotiations of new offtake contracts and financing agreements
  • Participate in development and construction meetings to ensure that operational and asset management requirements and major contract requirements are met
  • Work with other asset management staff and accounting personnel to ensure reporting obligations are met in a timely manner
  • Create and develop market knowledge on the regional electricity markets
  • Create and develop the improvements on the asset management
  • Communicate with market balancing authorities and reliability entities as needed
  • Additional duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, or related field.
  • Member in Good Standing of State Bar
  • Three (3) + years of relevant experience in power
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software and database development and management
  • Strong project management skills
